Thank You Hashem – Week 229

  • Last night I was at my niece’s wedding having a great time Bh.  I went over to my boss who was a guest at the wedding to say hello when he told me that he just lost a large amount money. Thinking it fell out of his back pocket, I helped him look around for it but no luck. He said Caparah avonot.  Throughout the night I continued to look around for it but nothing.  Towards the end of the night I went back to the bar (I must have looked under the table 5 times throughout the night) and found a credit card wallet with No money. Sure, enough the wallet belonged to my boss’s son who was also at the wedding. When I returned it to him, he didn’t even know it was missing. Hashem made my boss lose his money just so I could fine his son’s wallet…….  The next morning, I received a txt from my boss saying he found the money by the door of the Shul.   Amazing!!
  • So, I’m thankful for Hashem that so many times I don’t know where I’m going for Shabbos meals and it always works out.
  • Wow, I just passed a major test. I had good reason to really blast someone and let them have it. They sent me a text that was a bit insulting. I planned it all out and got on the phone with them ready to let him have it. As I started speaking to them I said you know what, for the sake of shalom let it go and don’t mention how he texted you very disrespectfully. I shut my mouth and made like nothing happened. Thank you, Hashem, for letting me pass this test.
  • Baruch Hashem, we had an order to ship from our warehouse to a customer, the customer received it but the order shipped incorrectly, again, reship, incorrectly again, the 3rd time bh they accepted it but the labeling was wrong. The issue was a big part my mistake, we should have ordered it correctly in china… But it was too late. The order was messed up, the customer was fuming and they have gotten the bosses involved… realizing what had happened this was a big bump in the road. Pressure crashing down on me. BH recently my wife mentioned she read from Rav Arush, that if a person thanks Hashem and accepts Hashem’s will it can all turn around. BH I Thanked Hashem and accepted it. My superior calls me later in the day. He recommended me to confront the bosses myself and apologize before they mention anything to me… bh Hashem has given me the courage to face them. Later, I receive a phone call with a compliment from my superior BH! the bosses were happy that we faced the fire acknowledged and took responsibility. Baruch Hashem, what could have been a big bump turned into a compliment! THANK YOU, HASHEM,
  • I feel so grateful to Hashem every time I call my parents on the phone.  The fact that they are alive and well, Baruch Hashem, is such a blessing.  I never take it for granted.  Every time I get to hear their sweet voices over the phone, I feel that Hashem has given me such a gift.  Thank you, Hashem, for every moment I can speak to them or can spend time with them.
  • I was online trying to make a purchase for business. It would not go thru for some reason. Every time I pressed the buttons it would not complete. It was strange and I said I will not do it now. Baruch Hashem, if it would have worked I would have lost at least $500. Thank you, Hashem, for this protection, clearly you orchestrated the transaction not being able to go thru and I saved the loss of this money. I love you Hashem
  • A conversation with Hashem: Me:  can I ask you a question?

Hashem: Probably!

Me:  Promise you will not get mad? Hashem: Do not be afraid.

Me: Why did you let so many things happen to me today?

Hashem: What do you mean?

Me: Well, it started with the fact that I did not get up in time.

Hashem: Yes…

Me: The car did not drive because I ran out of battery and I needed someone to help with cables.

Hashem…

Me: At lunch, they brought me the wrong dish, and by the time they fixed my order, I had to go and I did not eat.

Hashem: carry on…

Me: When I left the office, I came to answer the cell phone and it fell and broke.

Hashem: What more?

Me: And when I came home all I wanted was to relax from the terrible day with the new device I bought for a foot massage and found out it had been sold without an electric cable!

Hashem: I understand.

Me: Nothing worked out for me today! Why did you do this Hashem?

Hashem: The Angel of Death came to visit you this morning and I had to send my angels to fight him. I let you sleep at that time.

I did not let your car move because just as you were leaving, a drunk driver came back from the route you were driving and he would hurt you.

The restaurant worker who prepared your dish was sick and if you were infected, you would suffer and lose work days that I know you need.

The person you were talking to on the phone would go to lie about everything you said to him and cause you great harm, so I preferred not to answer.

Oh, and for the massage device … The specific device you bought was with an internal malfunction. If you plugged it in, it would send a short in the whole house and you would be in danger of severe electric shock.

Me: Wow, I did not think about all those things. I’m sorry I doubted you and complained without thinking there might be a reason for everything … Thank you God for saving me today from all the bad things that could happen to me.

Hashem: It’s okay, you have nothing to apologize for or admit. What matters is that you have learned and now you know that I do not do anything for no reason and have My own way of making My plans …

Such conversations happen with God every day, only we cannot hear His side of the conversation. With a little patience and faith, we will understand that even when it seems to us that He is ignoring, He listens well and in the end, His ways will become clear to us down the road. Thank You Hashem for all that You do every single day.

Thank You Hashem – Week 228

  • Had an important test being done by the Doctor. They prepared me for a terrible outcome. I opened my tehilim and prayed very hard. I made a donation to sedaka. I went back in to the office and Baruch Hashem they told me they were mistaken and everything is fine. Thank you Hashem for every wonderful day that everything is fine.
  • Baby girl Shabbat , Bris Sunday, BAR MISVAH Monday, Wedding Tuesday, Engagement Wednesday and a Wedding Thursday all to be followed up with Shabbat Kodesh. Thank you Hashem for simachot.
  • I had great reason to get angry and upset with someone and really blow my top. I held it in and said ok to everything they were firing at me and I did not lose my cool. A few moments later I was rewarded with a great financial gain from this person based on the fact that I did not scream at him. He told me he could not believe how I controlled myself and ended up giving me a great financial deal after gaining his trust. Thank you Hashem for helping me pass this test.
  • I received a call from a potential customer. They sounded like a small operation. I went down to see them and was shocked at the large order they gave me. This was clearly Hashem showing me who runs the world. Thank you Hashem.
  • Bishvil li bara Hashem et haolam-for me the world was created- I suffered an injury to my foot and was forced to wear ugly crocs to work. Something I would never wear. I was able to do this and not be embarrassed because somehow the world thinks ridiculous Crocs are normal. Thank you Hashem

  • I don’t usually drive to my office.

I get a ride to work every day.

On the morning of March 23rd, I had to make the trip by myself.

Though there were predictions of much snow the precipitation in our area quickly became sheets of ice.

I met one of those sheets of ice on route 18 North.

Neither my car, nor I expected the resulting skid. The car began skidding and I, apart from being quite frightened, tried to remember those things I had learned years ago; “Steer in the direction of the skid, don’t use the brakes “.

I wasn’t doing too well. At one point I was facing the guard rail. I wondered how it would feel going right through that divider. Would the car be stopped at that point or, would we just continue falling?

I thought of my wife, my children and my mother.

The car continued to be uncontrollable, round and round we circled. Items were flying around in the car. OK, so this is it, I thought. I wondered if I would see my father who had passed away years ago. He was never too comfortable with my ability to drive. I expected an “I told you so”.

Without much time left it became obvious that someone else had begun to “pilot “the car. I had acquired a “co-pilot”. He was good. Obviously, he had some experience saving people’s lives.

With no assistance from me, we came out of the skid. We ended up facing the traffic on the highway. Miraculously, we were not hit by any of the cars driving in the other direction.

Thank you, G-d, for being my co-pilot!

  • I was working on a sale with a customer. I followed up with them and it looked bleak. I davened and thought of a different approach to take with them. Baruch Hashem it looks like it has worked. Thank you Hashem for introducing this idea to me.
  • Thank you Hashem for guiding me and my family on the right path of life. A life of Torah.
  • Before going on a family vacation I received a notice in the mail that was going to represent a great amount of stress to deal with. I chose to push it aside and deal with it when I returned. I came back and called up to deal with it. The person on the phone said to ignore the notice, everything has been taken care of and is cleared. Thank you Hashem. This was a great feeling.
  • Thank you Hashem for giving me nachat. I was turning the corner walking to shul and timing was perfect. One of my sons Rabeim met me right on the corner and spoke so nicely to me about my son. Thank you Hashem for all of my wonderful children, may everyone see great nachat from all of their children.
  • Appreciating Hashem for our good health, which we often overlook until things change for the worse. Thank You Hashem for our day to day health.

  • (from the archives)   was in my office having a conversation with someone about Hashem , they said that they believe in Hashem but do not believe that Hashem is involved with every little minor thing in the world, they said I believe Hashem is involved in wars and big things like that but I do not believe Hashem cares whether or not I can lift my finger like this or not…sorry I just do not buy it, the big stuff fine but if I can lift my fingers is not on Hashems list of things to do..fine- not more than 3 hours later this person calls me up all excited-they tell me you are not going to believe this, I got a cut,was bleeding and had to come to the emergency room- I am sitting right now in the cubicle they put me in here at the emergency room, and they come to the guy in next cubicle and ask him whats the matter? and he says- “I am trying to move my fingers and I can not, they do not move no matter how much I try”…this person saw clearly the greatness of Hashem-wow!
  • Thank you Hashem for the wonderful world of SHABBAT

Thank You Hashem – Week 185

  • I needed a product for a customer of mine. My suppliers did not have it available and needed a few days to get it. I checked amazon and saw the same part but was more expensive. I ordered it being I needed it right away for this customer and paid the extra cost. There was a problem with the item , it was not functioning properly. Was able to unscrew it,open it up and repair it. For fun I gave them a call to tell them about this problem and they offered to refund me in full for my troubles. I guess it wasn’t more expensive after all. Thank you Hashem for putting the thought in my head to call them.
  • It could be hard to find Hashem in every day occurrences. We wake up every day and go about our business without truly stopping to realize how much He really does for us. The things we take for granted on a daily basis all exist as gifts from God and it is extremely important for us to realize that each and every day in order to be grateful for what we have. That being said, I forgot about this for a long time. So many amazing things were happening in my life- graduated college, got a new job, got engaged- and I wasn’t stopping to thank Hashem for any of it. I felt entitled to these common life accomplishments that every person goes through in their lives without truly realizing that not everyone gets to experience these amazing things. I was woken up out of my entitled phase of being when something on the border of miraculous happened to me in which I truly saw that Hashem is with me every step of the way and always has a plan. Last year, right before the Summer had started I got a new job. I was working in retail for about five years and had gotten an offer for my first ever salary paid job in an office near where I live. Not only was the job better pay, but it was in the field that I graduated college for which was a huge bonus. I thought to myself, “this is literally perfect, what can go wrong?” Little did I know, my boss was an absolute tyrant. We weren’t allowed to take our breaks during our 9 hour days without him knowing exactly where we were going and when we would be back. If he decided that we weren’t worthy of a needed sick day or extra break during the day, we were yelled at that he was the boss and there was no exception. On top of that, he became obsessed with what I was doing every minute of every day. I was being monitored and yelled at if I was doing anything he did not approve of. The environment was so toxic that it was affecting my everyday mood; it was just awful. I can handle verbal abuse, but the thing was that I was being singled out. And to make matter even worse, I was being singled out because I am a religious Jew. You see, my boss was an Israeli man who was married to a non-Jew, but he lived within our community’s vicinity. He resented the community because they did not accept him and his family and took it out on me. He would say horrible things about the community to me, regardless of the fact that I asked him to please keep those kinds of things to himself. He would mock me for keeping Shabbat and gave me the hardest time when it came to needing certain days off for holidays. I was scrutinized and penalized on a higher level than everyone else in my office because I was Jewish and this was extremely toxic to me.       For nine months, I stayed at my job thinking I had no other choice. I told myself I should be grateful for the position I had and stop complaining about the emotional burned it was taking on me. I felt so hopeless, but I prayed every single day for a solution to my problem.      A few weeks ago, I had started a second job on a part time basis for an established Rabbi in Brooklyn. I was working hourly on my own time completing a few projects for a brand new website being created for the Sephardic community at large. The work was rewarding and the extra money was great. I would have never known what was going to happen next. The second week into starting my second job, my job with the tyrant became extra terrible. I was being yelled at left and right for “not doing my job,” when all I was doing was my job and then some. Finally, something crazy happened. I had went to the bathroom and took a phone call after washing my hands from the DJ we booked for the wedding. The phone call was all of 3 minutes and when I walked out of the bathroom, there was the tyrant ready to pounce. “You were on the phone at work talking about your wedding, you are not doing your job!!” he yelled quickly. I tried to explain myself but I was answered with a loud, “I don’t care what you have to say. I am the boss and this is how I see it,” to which I finally broke. I left work that day and couldn’t even think about going back the next day. Then and there, I called the rabbi and spoke with him for a little while. He told me how he really needed someone full time to do the work that I was doing and we were able to work something out. I finally was able to leave that terrible job for good!!       So now I am doing meaningful work for a great man who is trying to create an amazing website for our community in which there will be daily halacha, classes, hashcacha pratit, and so much more in order to inspire so many individuals who need it. It really is a dream come true.       This experience allowed me to see that Hashem plans things for you without you even being aware of it in the slightest. I took that second job just for a little bit of extra money in my pocket, and look what came from it! An amazing new job in which I get to do mitzvot and get to work with amazingly righteous people on a daily basis.   Now I see that everything is from Hashem and if you pray hard enough, He will be there for you no matter what!
  • Thank you Hashem for the special month of Adar when we are given the special misvah to increase our Happiness. How awesome is that? Think about that for a minute.
  • Thank you Hashem for putting me in the right place at the right time. I was able to be a good listening ear for someone who needed it. • Thank you Hashem for the gift of another week and of course to write in “Thank you Hashem emails”!  Last night I was driving and the GPS was having a mind of its own……I said aloud to Hashem to please help me find the sign to the highway that I needed – and very soon after – the sign appeared! Thank you Hashem for your kindness!   Thank you Hashem for a wedding tonight!      Thank you Hashem for my life that is surrounded with so many good things and regular normal things! So happy to just live!!!

  • From Mitzvah Man – I posted on our facebook account that we were having a Chanukah Party for senior citizens. The same guy replies right away and says, here is my credit card number go and get any seats that you like. He continues and tells me, I am a chiropractor and I have been having a very hard time with the insurance companies getting paid. I have been doing a lot of work and not seeing any payments. This problem has been very difficult and has been going on for months already. Yesterday as soon as I replied to you to get the gifts for the senior citizens, the very next email I opened up was from the insurance company saying they are sending me a check for $150,000! . • From the archives… Thank you Hashem that I got married this past Sunday night to the most wonderful wife! My story of meeting Audrey is purely from the Shamayim. my cousin gave me Audrey’s phone number saying to call her up for a date. my response was that I know Audrey ,,,I’m not interested  ,,,, she’s not for me …. Something a regular guy would say about being set up. My friend Raymond’s mother in law approached me about Audrey around the same time (she and my cousin have no connection) and I gave her the same response. Soon after — I went out with another girl where our first and only date was a total disaster. It was really a bad night for me  ….When I get home, I say to myself  — what have I got to loose, its only a date. Let me call Audrey and be open minded. When I reach for her number to call ,,, we have a great conversation on the phone and I ask if she still lives in the city  … she tells me that she never lived in the city and that she’s lives in Brooklyn. We made plans for Thursday night…. I go ring the door bell and introduce myself to her father. All of a sudden….some girl who I never saw before in my life comes running out of the kitchen !!!!!!!It was a totally different girl who I thought I was picking up. A totally different girl than the one I said is not for me!This was all from Hashem!!I know everyone in this community and I never saw this girl before in my life…..It turned out I was pleasantly surprised that night and we continued dating until we got engaged in May. Hashem made two people approach me about Audrey, he sent me on a bad date so that I could learn to take more risks and he led me to my future wife. I am living proof of you never know give it a shot and let Hashem take care of everything else! Thank you Hashem for guiding me to my wife! • Thank you Hashem for the 2 crisp fresh 5 dollar bills I just found on the floor.
  • The heater at my parents’ house was not working in the kitchen for some time now. The electrician came by and checked the thermostat so he could figure out what the problem was. When he opened the thermostat to see what was going on with the wires, He found the box burnt, the wires too were completely burnt as though they had been up in flames.  The wall around it had also been burnt. We are assuming some kind of fire went on in the wall without us even noticing. I do not understand how that could happen, but if anyone were to see the wires and the plastic box the assumption would be that it was on fire. Barouch Hashem nothing worse happened. It is a known fact that when electricity and fire are put into contact big damage can occur, especially when everything around it is wood and easily flamable. Thank G-d the only thing that happened here was that the heater simply stooped working. This is clearly some kind of miracle. Barouch hashem! Thank you Hashem for always looking out for us and for protecting am Israel from bad.
  • So many simachot to attend this week I am very grateful to Hashem.
  • Segulot for month of Kislev-The Month of Kislev known as month of miracles, one who wants miracle has always to be happy and thank HaShem for everything!!! ☀Rabbi Chaim Palagi promised: One who will not complain even once staring Rosh Chodesh Kislev and until the 8th day of Chanuka will see great miracles  whole year around!!! Just thank HaShem twice a day and recite Tehilim chapter 100!!! – There is a great merit to do a Seuda ( meal with wine and meat) and to say prayer of Nishmat Kol Chai- this prayer is good for miracles. – Nishmat Kol chai was written by Yitzhak and Rivka, this week’s Parsha Toldot we read always on the week of Rosh Chodesh. With the merit of Nishmat Kol chai they were able to change their mazal and Rivka got pregnant with twins. – At this meal we have to thank HaShem for everything we have and ask for miracles .Very important to pray for other people, when we ask for somebody else HaShem gives us also what we need. Because in the nature of a person to ask about himself first and we come and show HaShem we care about others, so HaShem is happy to see that His kids care about each other  Chodesh Tov
  • I was in the turning lane on Ocean Parkway and a car coming the other direction changes lanes from the middle to the lane closest to my side of the street. As he changes he crosses too far and is now headed straight towards me head on. I immediately prayed to Hashem. There was nothing I could do from the turning lane any move I would make would cause an accident. Hashem answered my tefilla nad had the car swerve back into his lane. Thank you Hashem.
  •  I saw a couple of missed calls on my phone from a client of mine. It had potential to be a problem. I davened to Borei Olam and called her back. Baruch Hashem all was fine. Hashem easily made it into nothing. Thank you Hashem for taking care of me.

Dear Hashem,   THANK YOU!  For Your infinite kindness and compassion that You shower on us every minute! Thank You for the blessings in my life that are too many to count. For letting me be a part of Your family. Thank You for the things I know and see are clearly good and thank You for the things I’m not aware of but You know are good. Thank You for a life better than I could’ve ever asked for. For a family, school, friends, teachers, parents, siblings and the endless good that You alone provide. Thank You for giving me capabilities and talents. For my strengths, challenges, happiness, and health. Thank You for the Nisyonot that force me to grow. For the closeness I can achieve the more I learn. Thank You for giving the ability to pray. To talk to You, to beg, ask, thank, sing, and turn to You. Thank You for listening to our endless words of complaints when You never stop to give. Thank You for forgiving us when we’ve done so much wrong. Thank You for giving us a manuscript on how to live our lives the best way possible. For giving us a way to earn the best portion in the world to come. Thank You for such a beautiful world, and our ability to see it; hear it, smell it and feel it. Thank You for heart that beats, feels, loves, cares and gives. For a mind to control our body and a mind to let our control become Yours. Thank You for each stage of our lives where we learn new things and gain new perspective. For each time You took away our pain, soothed our hurt, tended our wounds, cried with us, lifted us higher and promised us a beautiful future. Thank You for little miracles we find in our lives. For the boundless joy we have as You give us Semachot. Thank You for shielding us from what other nations suffer. For giving us the pride of being Your children. Thank You for letting us believe, for the complete Emunah that You alone make the world turn. Thank You for those bursts of inspiration and light. For the smallest things in life that bring a smile. Thank You for the physical things in life that we must elevate, that sustain our being. The food, clothing, ice cream and fun. For those moments of loneliness, where we feel Your presence more than anyone. For that understanding we get that there’s no one to turn to but You. Thank You for the people in our lives that guide us towards You with such clarity. The people that care and respect each other. Thank You for loving us even more than a parent and child. For giving and giving and giving with no boundaries. For holding us tight and never letting go of Your children. For keeping us close to You throughout everything. Thank You Abba, Thank You Hashem for being a Father gives endlessly.

Thank You Hashem – Special, Week 169

About 20 years ago right after my father had passed away, I was approached by a neighborhood Yeshiva to do some fund raising for them. I had never done any sort of fund raising before. I didn’t know what to answer. I thought it would be a nice thing to do, a nice misvah right after my father passed away. They said I should get up in front of my shul and make a speech and then use the cards they would drop off by my house to mark the pledges down. Friday morning they dropped off 600 cards, but no speech. I am not a speaker and was left to fend for myself and try to get up in front of the kahal and make a speech on my own and do the fund raising for the Yeshiva.

I did it, I got up in front of everyone and made my appeal. After I spoke I was standing there with 600 cards. I looked to my side and saw a wealthy member of the shul, a friend of mine and I approached him and asked if he can start us out and help out the Yeshiva. His response shocked me. He started berating me. He started saying – How dare you approach me like this!, I will never help out this Yeshivah! and started to scream at me in front of the entire shul. I was humiliated beyond belief. He then angrily takes the card and tears it into pieces and THROWS IT IN MY FACE!!!  I put the other 599 cards in an envelope and gave up. I went home sat on the couch and cried like a Baby. I couldn’t continue,I was broken. I felt like I let my father down. I felt like I let the Yeshiva down. But that man deflated me. I was numb and could not go thru with this.

10 year later I get a call from a food organization asking if I can help fund raise for them. I paused and said this is my chance to get back on the horse and try again. I said yes and agreed to help out. I wanted to do avodat Hashem and was determined to do this Misvah that Hashem has resent to me.

I got to my place of business and had a wealthy community member show up as a customer that day. I approached her with a card for a pledge and began to ask if she can help out this wonderful food organization. Her reaction startled me. She angrily yells at me How dare you approach me over here for a donation!!! Who do you think you are!!. I am not here to give charity I am here for my own personal needs. I will not give you any donation. Don’t you ask me for any donations!!! I was shocked. But this time I was determined. I told myself I will not let her get me down. I will not give up the avodat Hashem I am trying to do. I am going to move on and continue full force ahead with great determination!

Within 6 months I was zoche to collect $140,000!!! Yes $140,000!

Being in the Parashiot we are reading this time of year the lesson was clear to me. Noach and Avraham were ridiculed and made fun of but they did not give up. They stayed true to the job of serving Hashem and did not let people bring them down. They persevered. This is our test. If we are growing and doing the right thing in serving Hashem we should not let a friend or colleague put us down. We must stay focused and continue in our avodat Hashem. Do not let any ridicule or any remarks take you off track. Keep on growing and doing the misvot we are required to do and stay strong believing and knowing that you are doing the right thing for Hashem and for yourself.
