Thank You Hashem – Week 227

  • Last week I had to take my son to the dermatologist.  While he was there, I had the doctor look at something on my foot.  It turned out to be nothing much, but he asked me if there was anything else I wanted him to look at.  I asked him to look at a bump I had on my face, and he told me that it was pre-cancerous and needed to come off.  He took it off then and there.  Thank You Hashem for getting me to the doctor in time.  Once again, Hashem you came through for me at the right time.
  • Thank you Hashem, we had a beautiful baby girl from my daughter Ilana and Manny Haber this past shabbat at 10am. This is the first Debbie (my wife’s namesake) and this weeks Haftarah for Beshalach just happens to be….”Deborah Eiysha Neviya!”
  • Thank you Hashem for bringing my yeshuah!!
  • I heard a beautiful story to say Thank You to H-shem.  “Somebody wrote to the Lubavitch Rebbe complaining that he can’t take anymore that he needs a bigger house, he has 2 boys and 2 girls and he lives in a 2 bedroom apartment.  Every time he comes home, his wife complains to him that their children don’t have room to play, to sleep, to do their homework and they are always fighting one on top of the other.  The Rebbe answers him:  1.  Mazal tov for getting married!!! Do you know how many people are looking to get married and they don’t find their zibbug?; 2.  Mazal Tov for having 2 boys and 2 girls!!!! Do you know how many people had been trying to have children for years and they don’t?; 3.  Mazal Tov for owning your own house!!!!  Do you know how many people have to pay rent and move every few years for not having a place of their own?  The Rebbe finishes the letter saying YOU AND YOUR WIFE SHOULD FIRST EXPRESS THANK YOU TO H-SHEM FOR ALL THE BLESSINGS THAT HE HAS BESTOWED UPON YOU. NOW PLEASE WRITE TO ME AGAIN WITH YOUR REQUEST.  The man was too shy to write to the Holy Rabbi again.”
  • Thank you H-shem for all the numerous blessings that you bestowed us every single moment of our lives, like Nishmat, even if we had all the ink in the world and unlimited amount of paper it’s not enough to say Thank you for one of the billions of Chesed that you do for us at every moment.
  • A year ago a person asked me to do a chesed for someone he knows that was sick. Of course I said ok and helped them out, it was nothing difficult a small simple chesed. A year later this person was talking to me and I tell him I am making my sons bar misvah in a couple of weeks. He asks if I have all the money. I answer and tell him the amount I am missing and am praying to have it by the time the bar misvah day arrives. The next day he hands me the exact amount of money to make the bar misvah. I asked where he got it from and all he said is that it was from someone who had hakarat hatov to me for something I helped them with. I figured it out that it was the sick person or someone in their family. Thank you so much Hashem for helping me out. I feel like you sent me that chesed opportunity a year in advance as a test to see if I would get this help to complete the bar misvah payment. Thank you to this person as well. This was such a nice thing for you to do. I did not help them looking for anything in return. Hashem is so perfect. Thank you Hashem for my sons bar misvah.

  • I heard an amazing story this morning about this Talmid Chacham who got hurt badly in a terror attack, he was so badly hurt and the Dr said he will never be the same, Am Israel got together to daven for him and with his determination to get better he exceeded all expectations today he is getting married!!!! To a girl who organized endless Tehilim groups and chesed in his name without even knowing who he was!
This is to show you that when we do selfless chesed for others we ourselves see yeshuot and more importantly don’t stop the tefilot, bora Olam hears them!!!!!!
  • Last Friday I was putting together a class on the subject of appreciating Hashem’s kindness throughout the year and truly being happy to serve Him with our Torah learning and performance of mitzvot. I was in a local shul and decided to write down some notes and points to focus on. The midrash was just cleaned up and the tables were ready for Shabbat without the regular random papers around that I would normally use for this. So after looking all over for just one piece of paper to write on, I finally found it- and turning it over, it was someone’s printout of this email. So I took this as a clear nod of approval from Hashem. For a class about “Thank you Hashem”, I was being told to use the back of this beautiful collection of people actually thanking Hashem!! May everyone who participates in this project be blessed with a year of siyata dishmaya, inspiration and closeness to our Creator!

Thank You Hashem – Week 150

  • I had a car rental while out of town. At the counter they tried to convince me to take the pass for the tolls. I refused being I had no need to travel anywhere requiring a toll. They persisted and kept telling me how if I go thru a toll there is no option to pay cash and I will automatically be charged $80. They had me initial that I understand this and accept. Fine. Of course I end up driving over a small bridge that has such a toll and no option to pay cash. I say oh well what can I do, $80 charge will be applied. I just got an email from the rental company that says invoice. I open it expecting to find the 80 dollar charge but it was only for $7.90. I double checked to see if there was a zero missing on the bottom but there was not. Thank you Hashem.
  • Mi ki Amcha Yisrael- my friend is laying in a hospital bed and calls me and asks me to go and buy nice shabbat candle sticks and candles and bring it to the hospital. I ask why and he says he is mekarev the nurse and she is interested in coming closer to Hashem. He spoke to her about lighting candles for shabbat. He told her he will buy her candle sticks and she was very happy and said that if he bought her candle sticks she promises she will light candles for shabbat and she will even call him to tell him that she did it. Our people are great, sick in a hospital bed still caring about bringing people closer to Hashem and the nurse as well jumping in happily wanting to come closer to Hashem.
  • Thank You Hashem for…EVERYTHING!!!!
  • Thank you Hashem for my parents. Their dedication to helping my family is priceless. We take parents sometimes for granted, but they are precious jewels always by our side. Always shining light on us with guidance.
  • Thank you Hashem that my good friend got engaged!
  • I visited a friend who is caring for a parent that isn’t well – realized closer up minor and major things that I can do, that this friend’s parent cannot do. Thank you Hashem!
  • Thank you Hashem that another school year is coming to a close. It was a good year.
  • thank you Hashem. thank you.
  • Thank you Hashem that things are normal in my life.
  • Read in the news today how a terror attack was averted in Manhattan today. 3(call them what you want) were stopped in their car in the Holland Tunnel for a broken windshield. When cops checked the car – they found all types of weapons, explosives, etc. and that the crew was headed straight into NYC. Who knows what they were up to…….Hashem always protects us. Sometimes we see it and sometimes we don’t. Thank you Hashem!
  • Thank you Hashem for my new office that is much better than my old one and much less expensive as well.
  • My friends son got married last night-mabruk
  • Engagement party last night-mazal tov
  • I had some unfinished business at work before leaving Friday before shabbat and shavuot. The yeser hara was telling me how can you leave, stay longer and take care of it. I did not give in and instead I left work for Shabbat and the Holiday and asked Hashem to please take care of it. A jews job is to know on shabbat not to worry about his business that Hashem is taking care of everything. I returned after the holiday and that is exactly what happened. Everything all worked itself out on its own. Hashem handled it all for me without me having to lift a finger. Thank you Hashem for Shabbat.
  • My friend has become a grandfather- mabruk on the baby boy.
  • Thank you Hashem for letting me be part of a kahal that knows and appreciates the importance of Torah. Many are planning to be away for the summer but are leaving with plans on continuing their learning programs together while away. This inspired me to join in as well.
  • I was deciding between 2 different items at a store. One was $70 more than the other. I decided to go with the more expensive one. I went to the register with it. When the cashier rang it up it showed  $70 cheaper than the price marked. She called her manager to check it and the lower price was correct. It was put on sale moments earlier and was not marked to show the new price yet.  Thank you Hashem for this extra savings and for giving me the better item at the same price as the cheaper one.
  • Brit milah this shabbat- mazal tov.
  • My eyes have been itching me due to allergies. This made me stop and appreciate my eyes. Thank you Hashem for my eyes, they are truly priceless.
  • I parked my car by a meter and the muni meter machine would not take a credit card. The machine kept saying error. I had no change on me. I prayed to Hashem not to get a ticket while I ran into the store. Came out after shopping and no ticket. Thank you Hashem, do not think this is unappreciated.

Thank You Hashem – Week 126

  • Just read the Thank You Hashem from this week- thank You Hashem for watching over Bnei Yisrael always and Your amazing Hashgacha that is always on us! Thank You for the small good things in life that shows how much You care about us, and for the small “annoying” things that gives us kapparah!Thank You for everything!
  • This week brought me one of the happiest feelings I have ever felt. My cousin who is as close to me as a brother, raising and guiding me my whole life was zoche to the engagement of his daughter. I cannot imagine a happier feeling, it is as if my own daughter is getting engaged. What makes me happy is the fact that I see a person who works so hard on himself to become great is able to see the fruits of his labor in his children. At the end of the day money, vacations, cars are all nice but what we take with us is our misvot, maassim tovim and the legacy we leave to our children. He should be zoche to marry off all of his children to see grandchildren and great grandchildren keeping in his holy ways!
  • Bought something that had written all over the receipt, final sale. No returns, no exchanges, no refunds. Prayed to Hashem before I went into the store and Baruch Hashem they gave me a refund. Thank you Hashem
  • Thank you Hashem for the indescribable simcha of my daughter becoming a Kallah and for being able to add the most wonderful (future) son in-law anyone could ever ask for, to my family. Thank you so much Hashem. I do not take this for granted- The great Rabbi Menachem Mannes Mandel zs’l used to bless my children all the time , especially the day we would bring them home from the hospital for the first time, that they should be zoche to marry healthy talmidei chachamim and that me and my wife should be zoche to be there to enjoy the simcha with them healthily. Thank you Hashem.
  • As Rabbi Seruya said so beautifully – just keep smiling. BH there is simcha everywhere. Came across the following ” Life is filled with gifts. They may not be the kind of gifts that we always want to have, often deemed by most of us as materials, but life gives us the best kind of gifts that no riches can ever provide. Just look around, feel within your heart and you will catch sight of them.”
  • Thank you Hashem for the engagement of my cousin to a good friend of mine
  • Thank you Hashem for the Hashgacha Peratit that happened to me. I usually get a ride home with someone from my work and yesterday I needed to go straight from work to boro park and had to be in boro park by a certain time. I was wondering how I’m going to get there by train or car service. In middle of the day this girl who usually drives me home comes to me and says she is not going straight home since she has a pidyon in boro park. The place was exactly 3 blocks from where I needed to go. Thank You so much Hashem for making it easy for me since it was hailing outside also!
  • Thank you Hashem for my daughters 11th birthday abal 120 happy and healthy years of serving Hashem
  • I heard an amazing story this morning about this Talmid Chacham who got hurt badly in a terror attack, he was so badly hurt and Dr said he will never be the same, Am Israel got together to daven for him and with his determination to get better he exceeded all expectations today he is getting married!!!! To a girl who organized endless Tehilim groups and chesed in his name without even knowing who he was!
This is to show you that when we do selfless chesed for others we ourselves see yeshuot and more importantly don’t stop the tefilot, bora Olam hears them!!!!!!
  • Thank you Hashem for LIFE!
  • My wife jumps and says uh oh forgot the mini pizzas in the oven , gets to the kitchen, Baruch Hashem she forgot to turn the oven on. Thank you Hashem
  • Thank you Hashem I made the bus today!!   Keep smiling 🙂
  • Was starting to look for parking at 11:20 am, alternate side is 11:30, I drive pass a car on the good side of the street and I see he is starting to pull out, I quickly stop, back up wait for the spot and bingo got a good spot instantly, as he pulled out I waved Thank you to him , but really I owe Thank you to Hashem.
  • Walking back to my car I see that orange envelope, a ticket on the windshield. Felt bad for a moment then said I accept it Thank you Hashem. Can’t imagine why I have a ticket, I am parked legally, I look at my inspection stickers and all is fine. I take the ticket off the car and it is an empty envelope , no ticket, someone was having some fun with me and put the envelope on the windshield, Thank you Hashem.
  • Thank you Hashem , went to a store and was waiting by the register for the cashier to come over and ring me up. I catch a glimpse of the lost and found and see something that belongs to my friend that he lost 2 weeks ago. I quickly call him and ask if he found the item and he says no, but I do not give up hope, Hashem can return it to me in the blink of an eye.The power of Bitachon, I tell him Chazak uBaruch for that attitude, I will bring it to your house in 3 minutes! Thank you Hashem

Thank You Hashem – Week 119

  • I ordered something on Amazon and even though it was a little expensive I bought it anyways because I needed it right away. For some reason it was taking longer than expected to arrive. All of a sudden I got a dans deals text that the exact item that I ordered went on sale for half price! Being that it didn’t come yet I was able to adjust the price and get the free shipping! Thank you Hashem for the great deal that I was able to take advantage of.
  • I parked my car on Coney Island ave because I needed to do some errands. I completely forgot to put money in the meter. When I got back to my car around 20 minutes later there was no ticket on my car. ‎thank you Hashem
  • Came to shul in between 2 minyanim I could’ve jumped into the 1st Minyan and prayed fast to catch up or prayed properly in the 2nd Minyan. I was in a little bit of a rush and wanted to pray in the first Minyan but I decided to do the right thing and pray properly in the 2nd Minyan. Hashem rewarded me. The guy sitting next to me in the Minyan offered me a great job opportunity. Had I prayed in the first Minyan I would have missed this opportunity. ‎thank you Hashem
  • Was tempted to say Lashon Hara to someone I was speaking with but I held it in and did not say it. Got to work and received excellent great news that I did not expect. Thank you Hashem –update, was just on the phone with the same person and the temptation to speak the same item of lashon hara came up and was even more tempting then before. I quickly thought of an excuse and got off the phone with the person right away before the yeser hara has a chance to convince me that I am allowed to say it. Thank you Hashem for helping me accomplish this.
  • Thank you Hashem for the opportunity that my son’s heart can be fixed with surgery. I felt terrible when I found out, but I realized my son will have a normal life. While others are not given even a chance for the surgery to correct it.
  • Thank You Hashem for…EVERYTHING!
  • 2 brisses to attend this week- Thank you Hashem
  • -Thank you Hashem that it has become so easy to keep Yashan.
  • Man Plans, G-d laughs, A palestinian tried to take the life of an Israeli last week, instead he saved it. An Israeli man,Daniel Cohen who was wounded in the stabbing attack in Rishon Lizion last week, said the potentially deadly assault actually ended up saving his life after doctors discovered what could have been a life threatening tumor in his intestines. A miracle in the midst of tragedy.
  • Thank you Hashem for the growth of Bmg/ Lakewood Yeshivah , a great Kidush Hashem
  • I went to a store to pick something up for a friend. When I got to the register I went on my phone to Amazon to make sure it was the correct item. It was the correct item but when I got to Amazon I saw the item was $30 , this store was charging $70, I showed them my phone and they honored the $30 price. Thank you Hashem
  • Completed an order with a customer that I thought was going to be complicated; in the end it was very simple and easy. Thank you Hashem
  • Was reading thru one of our Jewish papers and was overwhelmed seeing the amount of different types of Gemach’s that there are. Mi Kiamecha Yisrael
  • I was about to do a misvah for someone but put it off for some reason and forgot about it. About 5 minutes later I get a text from this person out of no where. I jumped up and remembered the misvah that I neglected. Thank you Hashem for the reminder, this time I did it right away and did not put it off.
  • Was in Brooklyn walking passed a Yeshivah and heard from outside on the sidewalk the beautiful sound of young children singing their pessukim together with their Rebbi. They were chanting it all together so beautifully. I was very moved and inspired and then a thought came to mind, if 50,60-70 years ago we would have told someone that in 50 years walking down this very street you will hear holy tunes of Torah emunating from the walls of a Yeshiva , what would they have thought?….All I Have to say is Thank you Hashem – THANK YOU

Thank You Hashem – Week 3

  • This made my day – Thank you Hashem! HE gave me the zechut today to get a check from a friend for my brother’s yeshiva – I asked my friend for a check, wrote the amount I wanted on my hand, and my friend wrote out the check! It is a really difficult job asking people for money but I do it for the yeshiva with my whole heart. Thanks Hashem for making this one go smoothly and for giving my friend the zechut to give!
  • We came home Sunday night after spending Shabbat in Deal. My wife noticed that the back door was unlocked. Something was very wrong. I ran upstairs straight to the bedrooms and noticed at once that our closets were in total disarray. It was obvious that someone was in the house- everything was moved around and it seems that they tried to put everything back in place. As we look through each shelf we could not believe it. There was a brand new smart phone still in the box that they didn’t take. Pen, a watch, cuff links, new wallet (in the package), purses, checkbooks, credit cards, all still there. With a smile my wife checked for an envelope hidden under one of the shelf liners. She counted out the cash- not a dollar missing. This was a substantial amount of tzedakah money that she collected to help a local family going through a difficult tzara. To our amazement nothing was taken! Back on the first floor they didn’t touch any of the silver or the candle sticks. My laptop was sitting on the table in open view untouched. They went through the bookcases and overlooked the valuables. We discovered later that burglars broke into the house through the kitchen window. We usually don’t leave jewelry in the house when we leave for the weekend. On Friday afternoon after my wife was already on the road, she could not remember packing the jewelry case into the car. She decided to turn around and drive back to the house and double check. The case with my entire wife’s jewelry was right by the couch. Had she remembered a little later into the trip she likely would have decided it was too late to turn back and the bag would have remained in the house and out in the open. Hashem put the thought into her mind just in time!
We take for granted every day simple things, like coming home to a perfect safe home after being away. A simple Sunday night evening could have C”V turned out much different. We walk into our homes every day and expect everything to be the way we left it. This story showed me that this too is a chesed from Hashem.
No matter what we may be going through in life, if we just open our eyes to the clear miracles that Hashem sends us we will be reminded that there is nothing to worry about- it is all from Him and He is always looking out for our good. Comment- (do you think the sedaka money played a part in protecting you?)
  • Ultimately, as happiness comes from God, no one but us ourselves, through being grumpy and ungrateful for our abundant miraculous blessings can remove happiness!
  • In modim I will thank Hashem for rashi.
  • This is so nice to read every week…
  • Thank you Hashem for putting this idea in Raymond’s head and having him follow through with it…making all smile and feel the Shecheenah…

  • Thank you for my friends going to eretz hakodesh next week.
  • (story sent in from Rabbi Ashears Emunah email) I heard a remarkable story about G-d’s protection from Rav Shlomo Farhi, who is involved in outreach in England. He once got a knock on the door from a teenage boy, who said, “Rabbi, I know that Hashem loves me, but right now I am facing a difficult situation and I was wondering if you could help me.” Rabbi Farhi asked the boy, “How do you know G-d loves you?” “There’s no question about that at all,” he said. He proceeded to tell him that during the previous summer, in 2005, he would travel by train to choir practice every Thursday morning. It was a long trip from his home, and he needed to be there at 9am. One morning, as the train was just a couple of short stops away from his destination, he looked at his watch and saw it was 8:30. There was a Starbucks shop across the street, so he figured he had plenty of time to get off, get himself a cup of coffee and relax for a few minutes, before getting back on the train and going to practice. Soon after he got off the train, he heard a deafening explosion. He turned around and saw that the train was blown up. With tears running down his face, he watched the mayhem that ensued, with sirens blaring and fire engines and ambulances rushing to the scene. He tried calling home to inform his family that he was all right, but the cell phone system had crashed The boy started walking home, and two hours later, he walked through the door. He found his parents crying and sobbing. As soon as they saw him, they rejoiced. “You’re alive” they exclaimed. “We can’t believe it! You were on that train!” They told him that there was a synchronized terror attack on the London transit system, and multiple explosions took place at 8:50am. “No,” the boy said, “it didn’t happen at 8:50, it happened at 8:30!” “That’s wrong,” his parents replied. “All the news stations reported that the attack took place at 8:50.” The boy looked at his watch, and his mouth dropped. It still read 8:30. Hashem had made his watch stop so he would think he had enough time to go get a cup of coffee, and this is how his life was saved. “Do you have a picture of that watch?” the Rabbi asked. “Rabbi,” the boy said, “If you want I will give you the watch to keep.” He ran home and brought back the watch. The Rabbi looked at it, and saw that it was stopped at 8:30. “If I ever experience any doubts in my emuna at any point for the rest of my life,” the Rabbi said, “I will look at this watch and remind myself that Hashem is controlling the world.”
  • THANK YOU HASHEM FOR LAKEWOOD

And she says the order is approved! When can you come in? This order is about 6 times the size of the one I lost…Hashem is great!! Yaw thinks that’s the end of the story?? Story not over, I call the other customer back to let him know I have no problem losing an order for going thru the correct procedure and he can cancel no problem- he saw my reaction and had a change of heart it seems, and gave me the order back!- Hashem is awesome…
